Installation Steps for Web Interface for Resource Manager 2.2

ctx_logoThe other day I was fiddling with the excellent Web Interface for Resource Manager, trying to get some useful information out of Resource Manager. I was unable to get it working just by following the setup guide so I’ll share my installation steps.
I used a simple Windows 2003 sp1 server on a VMWare Workstation.
- First install IIS with ASP.NET (just to be sure)

- Then install .Net framework 2.0 (NOT the other way around or .NET might not get properly registered with IIS)

- After that follow the instructions as provided in the setup

- Done? Good, then give the users: “NETWORK SERVICE” and “IUSR_*” Modify permissions on your WIRM Virtual Directory.  (cascade down)
(I was unable to complete the setup up to a point where I needed to give the IUSR_* user Full Control to the folder…needless to say this is NOT secure but who cares for now right?)

- After that I was able to reach the website and complete the configuration (the date of the Web.Config file changes if when you hit “Save”)
If you read the comments on the site, you’ll see that the mileage may vary. Some users get it running without a hassle some have to go out of their way just to reach the setup bit. Use what you need from my notes is what I’m trying to say.

If this post helped you out, help me out keeping this site alive and visit some of my sponsers on the left or right..
