The attempted operation cannot be performed in the current state (Powered On)

That’s the error I got when I tried to adjust a memory resource limit of a VM in Virtual Center. Wow..now what?

Turns out that Virtual Center doesn’t like it if you have ESXTOP running on the ESX box you are changing the limit on. Just exit ESXTOP and try again..it should work now! (I still use an older version of ESX so that may also come into play with this issue). Another thing that also may help is logging in directly to the ESX server instead of VC.
