IE keeps going to http://go.microsoft.com the second time you start Internet Explorer

I’ve been toying with Internet Explorer on Terminal Server. I kept running into this issue:

A user starts Internet Explorer which points to our intranet. This all works fine the first time. The second time the user starts Internet Explorer, it goes to: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=54843. instead of the Intranet.
This happens because IE creates a regvalue called “First Home Page” after it starts the first time. Why does IE keep creating this value if I already have a bunch of regkeys in place to trick IE into fairplay?
I then tried placing the following value in the userprofile.
Location:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main
Name: NoUpdateCheck
Value: 1
After I placed this reg. value,IE Doesn’t check for updates anymore and will cease creating the “First Home Page” value!
